Default Is it just me or are fewer people accepting help?

I have noticed recently when I ask if people need help I get fewer replies than I used to. People in Prophecies seem to accept the most and NightFall the least. Is it me or is it a trend?

as time goes on there are less and less people that have no clue waht they are doing so they dont need help. I for one would ratehr work with henchies and heros when im questing/missioning/ and skill capping. Only time i go with groups is to help guildies and friends or when we are doing some sort of farm and pvp. There isnt that much demand anymore since people have gained mroe knowledge of the game.

Could be a few things

less trust
more people tired of seeing gold amounts beside offers to help or run
too many new guilds - require you to join for help

there has been a community break down happening for some time IMO

I thought when you played an online game it was to play with other people. If you wanted just henchies you don't need it online.

I thanks you kind folks offering to help, me myself got asked when I just started my Dervish recently. But guys like me own previous 2 chapters already and know what to do, I also like to AFK whenever I like... The Heroes are good enough companions, and like to experience the game slowly.

I think that you'll find it is because of the introduction of heroes.

Another factor is the mass of buttheads who either charge to "help" lower lvls or make fun of anyone asking a question. I started a new NF char the other day and was in Astralarium. I saw 2 different ppl spamming "Lvl 20 Helping low lvls with any quest 500g".. Blech.

It took be almost 5 minutes (and several districts) to get rid of a Free Iboga Petal. I happened to pick one up and thought that some person that has a new character in Kamadan might want it for that one Soup quest (or whatever it is). Never knew how hard it was. haha

When I ask people if anybody needs any help, I as well only occasionaly find someone. As the games have been out longer and longer, you'll typically start to see things taper off a little (at least until the next campaign comes out)

I believe that is one of the factors.

Another would be playing style. I usually map complete areas when I enter them, whereas some people just want to get from point A to point B as fast as possible. I don't want to force others to play "my way," so I go with heroes/henchies as much as possible.

A third would be experience. Since many people are working on multiple characters, the "new" factor is gone, and they know what they are doing, and don't require assistance other than the heroes/henchies. I remember when henching through THK and the Fire Island missions was thought to be "advanced." Now it is just common.

Fourth, new skills. With so many powerful skills, it is easy to dominate missions that were once thought of as difficult.

I could go on, but I think you get the point.

thou, its easy to help someone without really pushing them through mission in early missions.

join mission with guy you want to help, have one good monk hero and one good damage hero (i opt for healing ritu and damage dervish) or three heroes+hench (add seccond damage dealer - possibly MM hero and use hench monk). Say "good luck" and leave. (just make sure person you are helping does not freak out when you leave :-) )

now, you helped him, but he can play at his own pace, not feel obliged to return favors and actually experiene mission and feel like HE is the one doing it and not just being rushed (you are gone in few seconds, if he messes up, he still has decent chance to loose)

you on the other hand can return to mission outpost and do same for other players - you can help couple of newbies at same time.

you can do this on NF/F starter islands and in prophecies till desert.

I think this is a great idea! I might try something like this myself.

Well if you go in a hard area in PvE, most people think you need help as much as they do, you can't guarantee that you're experienced to them.

If you go in a low level area, well first of all, there might be a lot of players there that already beat the game many times, and second low level areas usually aren't hard.

I think if you like to help people with quests and missions you're probably just looking to socialize, maybe you should try PvP or asking people from your alliance if they need help with a mission or a quest, surely someone will say yes.

Personally, I love the game, but I'm not so big on the social aspect. If there was an option to play offline, I would, and I'm sure a lot of others would as well. Yes, it's an online game, but I think you have to accept the fact a lot of people don't want to play with other people.

I think that there is a lot of people who like to play with other people. But they won't do it if the social aspect of the game is garbage. The bulk of the community now is in a guild with like minded people and rules to avoid the crap.

For me, Henchmen were always good enough to get the job done. Heroes merely sealed the deal.

People are spread out more and, this late into the game, most tend to be more experienced and do not need random help. They are either comfortable with hench/hero, have a guild, or have a good friends list.

Same thing goes with giving away non max items - the longer the game has been out the harder I find to give them away. I detest selling greens to the merchant and most aren't worth bothering with trying to sell (and the ones that are I want to keep - which of course why they sell for a decent amount of gold). If they are some of the few non-max I try and give them away in Ascalon since new players will have a long way to go before they get a better items. They are now hard to give away and end up at the trader.

So it is not just avoiding humans, heroes may have something of an impact but I doubt very much at all. If anything heroes should be *increasing* the demand for near max damage free greens since their mods tend to be max, yet it follows the same trend and we saw the same thing with the release of Factions.

Just you. I prefer playing with even stupid people to smart AI. Stupid people make better conversation than Smart AI.

I do not, and will not ever like playing with jerks. End of story. K Thx Bai.
